We provide specialist Palliative Care services to people in our district, regardless of their ability to pay.
The Southern Highlands Community Hospice (SHCH) was established in July 2010 as a Charitable organisation, to provide hospice and palliative care services for the Southern Highlands community.
There are minimal specialist palliative care services in the catchment area, which includes Wingecarribee Shire as well as parts of Mulwaree, Shoalhaven and Wollondilly Shires. SHCH takes responsibility for raising funds though the generosity of the local community. Currently, SHCH is focusing on various palliative in-home support services.
SHCH's Pharmaceutical Support Service aims to support Palliative Care Patients with the ongoing cost of medications.
The service is not means tested and is available to any individual who is currently receiving non-cancer related Palliative Care (The charity, Can Assist, provides this service for cancer patients).
The service covers all approved prescription and non-prescription medications up to $200 per month, capped at $2400 per year.
Individuals are free to choose their preferred Pharmacy within the Wingecarribee Shire.

Life goes by so quickly and all of us have a story to tell.
A personal biography gives you an opportunity to reflect, be heard and discover your significance. It provides a place to document memories, acknowledge loved ones, wisdom and share your experiences. SHCH has trained volunteers to write your story, in your words.
The Biography is presented to you in high quality bound books, along with an electronic version for continued editing and reprinting.
The process takes approximately 6 to 8 weeks consisting of 1 hour sessions each week being the optimum time frame to maintain consistency. Of course we fully appreciate health issues may cause this to vary and we remain client-focussed in all our interactions.
All biographies are produced by Southern Highlands Community Hospice at no cost to the client.
Please contact our biography coordinator Kate Fletcher on biography@shchospice.org.au or 0412 575 277 to organise an introductory discussion.
The highly successful Furniture and Fashion retail shops are the major fundraising initiatives of SHCH.
Located in Bowral, the stores are solely supported by generous donations from the local community, and raise significant funds to support the Hospice services. The high-end, second-hand Clothing and Furniture stores house quality treasures for sale at modest prices, and have become well-known destination for bargain hunters in the Highlands.
If you have any quality Fashion and/or Furniture you would like to donate, please contact us via the below contact details.
